PROJECT MANAGER

Listening Ears is a charity organisation based in Greenwich dedicated to providing emotional, health and wellbeing support for the most vulnerable people in the community. We are a community focused charity organisation, with a passion for women and girls as well as people who are isolated, depressed or excluded. We offer a range of services ranging from counselling to drop-in sessions, workshops, befriending and outreach programmes. We reach a diverse cross-section of people and our service users range from age 5 to 99!

Listening Ears is recruiting for its young women’s project, Rosebud Centre. A youth worker is required to provide efficient and well-rounded support to the Listening Ears team, thus enabling the organisation to deliver a high level of service to all of its users.

We are recruiting a Project Manager who will have direct engagement with the team and our vulnerable service users to provide a listening, non judgemental ear.

Job Purpose:

To provide a safe place for young girls between the ages of 11 – 19 to be themselves, talk and be listened to without being judged. To develop new resources, with the input of the girls, that will prepare them for womanhood.

To develop initiatives and partnerships that will not only encourage young people to participate in positive activities but build strong links between them and their local community.

To empower them to develop new skills, build on existing ones and enhance their economic, psychological and social development with workshops and training on:

  • Confidence Building and Personal development

  • Weight management and cookery

They will also engage in various activities including:

The Project Manager will be responsible for the strategic development, planning and delivery of the Rosebud Centre project to ensure that it meets its long term goals in line with proposed outcomes.

  • Ensure that all work undertaken is participative and actively challenges exclusion and encourages young people’s aspirations.
  • To ensure that the Academy critically analyses the negative messages about relationships, beauty and sexuality that youths are exposed to through the media, internet and their peers.
  • To build positive and healthy relationships and develop innovative programmes for the prevention of abuse within adolescent relationships.
  • To address underlying issues that put young girls at risk of offending or becoming NEET.
  • To empower the girls to build the confidence and resilience to achieve their aspirations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To manage day-to-day activities of the project, ensuring that policies and procedures are appropriate and adhered to. To ensure that all equipments are properly maintained and oversee the smooth running of all facilities.
  • To acquire local knowledge and develop a meaningful dialogue with young people in the area, with the purpose of assessing and working towards meeting their needs of personal and social development.
  • To develop and maintain a varied and viable programme of sports, arts and recreational activity for young people that promotes the development of the mind, body and spirit.
  • To work hand in hand with our young girls to ensure their ideas are incorporated into the planning and delivery of sessions, projects and activities.
  • To manage and promote the development of innovative approaches to the delivery of youth work that explores and encourages the girls’ participation at all levels.
  • To seek to expand the range of services offered by the Rosebud project.
  • To initiate and implement projects involving work with the young girls to raise their confidence and skills and give them opportunities.
  • To develop effective working partnerships with local and national statutory and voluntary organisations including the police, children’s services within the local authority, local churches, schools etc.
  • To use a multi-agency approach to improve relationships with existing partnerships and service providers associated with the project.
  • To organise strategic partnership events and workshops.
  • To be involved with the development of relevant publicity materials required for planned programmes, promote the activities of the project including regular market research, promotions, advertisement and publicity.
  • To assist the Project Coordinator in the recruitment of staff, sessional workers and volunteers, and to carry out inductions and performance appraisals and work review.
  • To ensure that checks are carried out for all sessional workers and volunteers.
  • To manage logistics and budgets for each programme in consultation with the Coordinator, including invoicing as required and keeping an overview on all associated costs.
  • To identify new funding streams, raise funds and assist with the management of existing funding streams to ensure the finance security of the project.
  • To draw up reports for management and funders as required.
  • To assist in drawing up of the annual budgets and to be responsible for the necessary financial controls to stay within the budget.
  • To carry out recruitment, supervision and training of volunteers, including responsibility for full volunteer guidance compliance.

YOUTH WORKER

  • To engage with the young women through one-to-one, mentoring and group activities while away from home
  • To encourage them to build positive and healthy relationships by learning to embrace others regardless of their differences in culture and ethnicity and ability

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • To work directly with the Project Coordinator and other members of the team to ensure that the project objectives are met
  • To contribute to the planning, delivery and implementation of activities during the residential programme
  • To engage directly with the young girls and develop their personal, social, emotional and educational knowledge and skills
  • To contribute fully in all aspects of project delivery
  • To undertake all administration relating to own work, including initial assessment, monitoring and evaluation as well as report writing
  • To gather and record information using the appropriate systems
  • To adhere to safeguarding and child protection guidelines and report any concerns using the appropriate procedures
  • To maintain a high level of professionalism while discharging responsibilities at all times
  • To carry out any other duties as requested according to the needs of the project as a whole.

ADMIN ASSISTANT

We are recruiting an admin assistant who will have direct engagement with vulnerable service users, providing a listening, non judgemental ear.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general administrative duties as required (filing, photocopying, word processing, data entry, etc.)
  • Database set up and management
  • Provide the Project Manager with informative material, as well as accurate and timely reports of administrative and operational matters
  • Organise the provision of equipment, office supplies and services
  • Deal sensitively with general enquiries made to the RoseBud Centre and provide a warm, welcoming and professional reception to users of the Girls’ Centre

Skills:

  • The ability to prioritise and manage own workload
  • Strong IT skills; proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team, as required
  • Knowledge of filing processes (paper and electronic) and management of general office resources

Education:

  • BTEC or A-Level, or equivalent

Experience

  • Previous experience of working in an administrative position in a paid capacity
